My first rod which was specifically designed for beach-
fishing , that i aqquired, was a diawa paul-kerry supercast,
it was dark blue, dynaflow rings , alloy butt, and a very
handy trigger grip fixed reel-seat, just wondered what
other users started of with.

Jese that was pure luxury...started with an 8ft spinning rod chucking a 3oz lead into the surf. First proper beach caster was a Kenley Popular, cost 30 old pounds :lol: Really liked that rod

don't know what make it was but it was made of hollow fiber which broke like a twig one cold night in ardglass the first eye was pretty neat as it folded down...

Just a wee bit of subject here but my dads house is being renovated at the moment and an old part of the building was blocked up for the last twenty or so years they opened it up yesterday and found under an old bit of carpet my first rod I thought I had lost it but it had been behind a brick wall all these years :shock: :shock: I am grinning like a cheshire cat and so is my son its now his :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

my first rod was a shakespeare rod again name long gone but was 9ft spin and got my first pollock on it.

bit of luck there lazy when you take son out get him to teach ya to cast lol

My first rod was also a shakespeare. I think it was called a super spin or somthing along those lines. I still have and my girlfriend uses it now.

My first rod was a 6ft fibre glass Shakespeare mickey mouse rod and reel combo with plastic handles that bent but to tip with a feather trace loaded with mackerel then followed by a Shakespeare telescopic in a maroon colour was worshipped at the time the reels were complete junk but where great at the time :lol:

My first rod was also a 6 foot fibre glass red shakey. I went through a few of these small rods fishing off wicklow pier for pollack and coalies over the summers. My first beach caster was a 12 foot carbon fibre silstar bought 20 years ago for chrismas and I still have it back in wicklow for use when I get home.

first rod was a cheapie telescopic 1...i got for doin a favour for a friend, years later and look at me now :lol:

first beach caster was a Daiwa Moonraker Supreme.. :D

this is the first year i stopped using iot as my main rod :shock:

its had a good 28yrs of use and has served me well :D
and there aint no way i'm going to part with it.. :twisted:

first beachcaster, well that's a head scatcher, I think it was a 12ft rod called Atlantic made by diawa (i think) used many spinning rods and my dad's rods but this was the first one i bought.

First rod was, like Steve, a Daiwa Moonraker. I still have it but unfortunately the top of the butt half got trapped in a door rendering it useless. Sentimental reasons (it belonged to my late father) mean Ill never part with it. Will try to get a replacement Butt for it though.

My first sea fishing rod was a 6ft 50lb class shakespeare boat rod with a roller for the top ring! Those flounder and whiting in dun laoighre never stood a chance!

my first beach caster was a 12ft KENTLEY !! got it for my birthday as for the first rod it was a wee red silstar 7ft spinning rod bought by my uncle who taught me how to fish

9 foot shakespeare spinning rod when i was 5 in new zealand used for trout then beach fishing ,then at 11 came home and used it till i was 16 when i got a real job and money :!: broke tip and cut it down to boat rod which was used by one of my mates last year in kilmore quay and still does the bizz :D not bad for a 17 year old rod thats been painted twice and still has its 2 original rings :D

black fiberglass rod, not certain its make. was origionally 12 ft but a 1ft was taken off the butt cause i was small.still have it and is one of my favourite rods for wrasse. gonna rebuild it this year tho

My very first rod was Russian telescopic - I bought it (with reel and line on it plus pack of bite) for equivalent of €5 :lol: of course I were not fishing in the sea at that time.

My first beachcaster rod was bought couple weeks ago :)
It is Shakespeare beachcaster tidewater 1344.360 fixed spool 4-8oz

This telescopic one, however, is still laying somewhere in my house - waiting for.... I don't know for what - to be honest :mrgreen:

my first rod was a conoflex cod five ! when i was about eight !! very stiff rod and i still have it ! i recently sanded it down and revarnished it complete with tri colour whipings on the eyes !! it still looks good after all these years ! :)

12ft shakespeare mustang and a big fixed spool caught dogs,ray whiting and even a small tope on it broke it soon after mackie bashing :( spool is still alive altho on its last legs. ...

started out with a mitchell ambiblack - used to get good distance with the top half of the rod taking flight aswell - half the time :lol:

First beachcaster I think was a three-piece Silstar rod. Bought in George Bridges shop in Wexford. Used it with an Abu Six (was it "six", I can't remember) multi. That was probably about 1989.

First rod was blue and I can't remember the manufacturer, if there was one ... :? I probably still have it somewhere. That would have been back in '86 or '87.
