Glad to hear that my "bag of frozen peas" trick worked. before you put it back together, get a 6B pencil and rub it all over the male spigot till its totally covered..
Graphite is used as a high pressure "dry" lubricant, and works brilliantly on rod spigots, mine have never stuck since i started using it.
