Level wind multis
does the level wind affect the cast, along with shockleader knots, does the leader just pass thro the level wind hole? or is it best taken off?

From what I can see Levelwind does effect casting Distance, as there's no way the Barrel can keep up with the Speed of the line going out... If its for general beach fishing, and your confident enough, ditch the Levelwind, use the oul Finger and Thumb.

levelwind or not
i prefer multipliers with no levelwind. having said that, i started with a levelwind reel. if you use tapered shockleader, then the leader knot is much smaller than the usual 15lb to 60lb joint. try a couple of practice casts without the levelwind. you will surprise yourself of how easy it is to get used to it. Tight lines

Depending on which LW you have, you may be able to get a conversion bar for it. Abu conversion bars are usually available on e-bay.

Cheers for that Ian, was looking for one of those. Just ordered one for my new 6500... :D
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
