Ballyconnigar,Blackwater,Co Wexford, Mar 18 2007

#1 Post by jd »

People:JD

Duration:3.30pm - 7.30 pm

Tide: In at 6.30

Weather:Cold, Snow /Sleet Showers/NW

Bait:Frozen Lug, peeler tipped with mack and razor

Rigs:Flapper+bomber

Results: 5 codling, 2 flounder, 1 bass

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: Today was pretty miserable, and the mark I had in mind (the cut, coombe) seemed like it would be too much like hard work. I had had no luck last week in the new marina last week, so I decided Ballyconnigar may be worth a shot. The other advantage is you can fish from the car park, which is handy when it is miserable.
Anyway I caught 5 codling, all around 30 cm or so, and two flounder, best around 33 cm. I'm off for a pint to celebrate my first bass of 2007. :)
Bass came to lug, codling to lug/peeler, and flounder to peeler
