Dave,

I will give you a tip...when you have tied the Spider Hitch take the loop and get the two lengths parallel, then tie a small knot about 25mm up from the end of the loop itself, this way, after you tie the leader to it, both lengths are the same.

Eoin,

This method is stronger than tapered leader and wont ever give a tip ring any trouble if tied right. A lot cheaper on the pocket too.
