magnets for multipliers

decided to give braid a go on one of my 525 s the only problem was the reel was a tad to fast for .016mm braid . one option was thicker oil but the quick fix was a pair of magnetic earings left on the kitchen counter :D the magnets are equal in strenth to the ones in the reel and i put them on the back of the two end ones on the holder the braking is increased quite a lot and should do the trick .i enquired to the cost of the earings and was told 5 yo yos for three pairs and then asked why i wanted to know :oops: just wondering was the innocent reply :D

just wanting to know, as i fitted magnets bout 5mins ago...r the magnets meant to touch each other? the pic in the demo shows the mag seperate, but i cant for love nor money seperate them once they r on the underside of the original magnets?!

the mags go on the back of the plastic holder so its just the magnetism that holds the extra two in place this will slow down the reel quite a lot great for a novice cos a lot of people give up after a few big birdies and the reel never sees the light of day again :shock: just keep it smooth dude :D

:shock: i tried using braid on a 525mag once, never again i nearly lost the tip of my thumb when it looped around it,im just curious here but are you using it for close in stuff or wanging it out,,,??

IMHO you shouldn't go below 0.35mm on a 525. FS reels will be far superior with low diameter lines and will give better distance without the heart ache. Multipliers work on the principal that as the line goes out less line is given out as the diameter of the spool reduces. With very thin lines you have to slow the reel down so any advantage of a multiplier for casting is gone.

100yards plus with braid on mag elite dont know with the 525 but will on friday, the braid on my mag elite got changed last week 1st time in 2.5 years and it gets used once or twice a week i think it was 30lb and it does take a few trips to break it in but after that u can wack it out, :) oldish stuff off a boat reel that has lost its coating is the best .like all casting if u are afraid of a line or reel u will never master it so it pays to experiment a bit i use one with 20lb mono for rough seas because the braid just pulls out the gripper every time a wave hits it so is pretty useless in bad weather :)

the one time i did use braid on my 525mag was fishing The West African Shore Champs 2yr ago, (300yards of 50lb), fishing at distance off a shallow beach taking catfish, captains butterfish and small stingers, getting them off the back of a small sand bar about 160yds+ out, fear of a reel or line does not even enter the equasion,,, after getting a little fluff up on one of the casts and slicing the tip off my thumb i thought it was advisable and safer to swap back to mono as i kinda needed my thumb to fish out the rest of the hol..

hum may stick to mono on them as you say thumbs have their uses i think the abu mag reels are ok though may try it out in daylight first with the 525 and extra mags :)

i wouldnever use braid on a multiplier for shore work, too risky. i use it on a baitrunner for the close in work and for flounders is crackin
