I have moved back to Dublin from the west and am now living in the Swords/Malahide area.
Can anyone cast ( ) any ideas my way about likely spots in and around the area?
Any species/location info would be great also:
I have just started SW fly fishing (more likley to catch myself than fish)and any suggestions on this would be very much appreciated.
Malahide is a great spot. Dont be afraid to try plugging from Sept onwards and also bunched rag, king rag if you can get it. Best at first 3 hours of rise. Some cracking spots for Bass but im going to let you discover them for yourself..!
Top 3 lure caught bass 2017 :

9Ib 2oz
8Ib 11oz
thats an old map!
the best way is to go down the m1 and take the swords exit just after the airport. at the end of the road you come to a roundabout, take a right heading north. go through 2 roundabouts ( i think) and take a right that leads you into an industrial estate( there is a white sign at the roundabout saying industrial with a factory image thats the turn to take) this road leads you under the m1 and your at the estuary, the road goes right around the edge of the estuary.
hope this helps
donal
skerries is a good spot for mackerel in season, theres a mullet spot left of donabate beach, loughsinny throws up whiting and codling, bass along the rocks on the coast road headin from malhide to portmarnock, howth is pretty much fished out from what iv been hearin but doggies and the odd eel out ther, donabate beach and the estuary mouth has the occasional small ray/smoothhound if your very lucky in summer, swords man myself but have had more blanks around these spots then anymhere else, usually head down wicklow way now but ya never no on the day
Rogerstown estuary is the next estuary up above Malahide estuary (broadmeadow estuary)
Sorry about the dodgy angle of the image only way to fit all the towns in.

Just take the Mahahide road it ruins throught Coolock and right down to Malahide or if your coming from the M50 just keep going straight and you will end up on the malahide road again. very easy to get to!!
