Not sure I'd call it a 'favorite' but as far as stench power goes, MUSTAD Co. is offering a scent called 'UltraBite'.
It's strength and stinkiness is unsurpassed.
When fishing, you'll get this whiff of something foul in the air....start looking suspicously at your boatmates , and then realize it's not your gassy friends but a nearby boat just opened a vial of this stuff
It's that strong.
Some folks like it for days when the salmon fishing is slow, but I won't allow it in my boat....if it ever spilled, you'd have to sell (or burn) the boat!

The worst smell I have ever come across is a tub of white rag left in the boot of the car for a few days.... Threw up when i opened the tub... Don't try this at home... lol
Also the only way to really get rid of the smell of fish etc that has been spilt into the carpet or fabric of the seats is to open the petrol tank, and throw a lighted match into it...
 Dave

worst i had was somebody elses stinky mussel, squid and sandeel packets that i'd cleaned up from a pier - left them in the boot of the Landrover, and didn't drive it for a week ;-((
that was months ago and its still a bit niffy!
as for persistance, there has been a gicky bit of mackeral stuck to the bonnet for about 3weeks now - 2000 miles, and weeks of rain an its still there!

have to totally agree with Dave jolly on white rag/ herringbone. there isn't a smell quite like it. it would wake the dead. you have to keep a close eye on the condition of them all it takes is 1 dead one left for a couple of days to upset the household. second on the list has to be old defrosted razor .

last summer during the "heat wave" after returning from a hectic days boat fishing i threw the rag id been using for my hands in the boot of the car, to make a long story i parked the car up for about 2 weeks with the sun beating down on the boot. when i got into the car the smell turned my stomach and i emptied its contents into the door panel, 9 months later and she can still smell it
