Bangor, Co Down, Rough Ground mark.

#1 Post by Drew »

People: Me

Duration: 1.30pm - 4.30pm

Tide: Filling, High.

Weather: 20mph Winds, No Rain.

Bait: Rag, Peeler, Sandeel

Rigs: Clipped Down 2 Hook Sheppy, Pulley, Millenium.

Results: 3 Coalies (31cm x 2, 33cm x 1)

Report: Arrived for the last hour of the Push, Immediately Put a 2 Hook Clipped Down Sheppy Rig on the Zziplex w/Penn 525 for Winding Power to get out of the Snags, Baited it with Rag, went to pour my First Cuppa of the Day to turn round and Find the Tip Merrily Bouncing away, I lifted into it to find it was firmly lodged in the Kelp, after some swearing, and some gentle persuasion the fish finally left the Snag, My First Fish on the 2500ptx turned out to be a Fit 33cm Coalfish.

I rebaited and finally got my Coffee, the next couple of Casts produced a couple of Knocks but nothing serious, I lost one Rig to the Kelp and Immediately tied on another of the Same type. The wind was making bites a bit of a problem to see, But next came the unmistakable bite of a Coaly, Which, this time was kept well out of the Kelp, Measuring in at 31cm I wasn't unhappy.

Cast Umpteen and Coffee Number 3 and I had Changed The Rig on the Penn to a 1/0 1 Hook Pulley, Once again Baited it with Rag. It didn't take long for the Tip to Swing Round Violently, and while I wrestled with what I thought was the Mother of all Irish coalfish it got lodged in the Bottom a Few Times... I was disappointed to find another 31cm Coalfish complete with a large kelp stem and stone. :(

Oh well, Can't complain I suppose 3 Counters in the middle of the day from North Down, I'll be back.

(Btw, I'm under a death threat if I give the precise mark away, Sorry lads).
