Century reel seat

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

#1 Post by Mr_Green »

ordered a century reel seat for my carbon metal, and it seems to big for the rod...mayb a cm 2 big...it has a small coaster that tightens and holds it in place, but when a fish comes on, it tends to twist and slide round the rod grip...any ideas? btw i posted this in tackle reveiw cause i cant post in q and a for some reason..it wont let me??

I am not sure if we will be talking about same reel seat or problem but hope some help to you.

I have a thin blank its 22 but all i could get in the way of a reel seat was size 23.

On one rod i just put another layer of shrink rap which holds seat well and can still change position of reel.

On the other i simply found were i wanted it and put some masking tape were it would sit and when you thighten up the turning screw to thighten it up it sits perfect and no more slipping.

i have the same problem with the reel seat on my tip tornado supermatch but as pookie said a couple of turns of electrical tape solved it.

looking on conoflex site, they advise against using such a reel seat on rods....

the century reel seats are fine the ones conoflex are talking about have only one end to hold the reel foot and the other is held by the coaster which also holds the reel seat in place.think these reel seats used to come as standard on the imax range if rods.
