Myself and Petekd were talking about this the other day...when your fishing alot the skin on the ends of your fingers tends to get worn off...he was saying that he couldn't pick coins up of the counter and I've now found that I can't open plastic bags at the checkout counter over the head of it.
Anybody else found this a pain?

Can't say I've noticed.
Although casting heavy lures with braid and wet fingers, I've noticed the braid eventually cuts through the skin. That's quite painful.

ya i have to say its something i've noticed myself, if im fishing alot the skin on my fingers starts to come off, i put it down to the abrasion of the line, constant wet hands and the acid from certain baits eg ragworm.
sometimes my fingers can get so bad that i actually have no finger prints left, just aswell im honest

think its got to do with the constant - drying wetting cycle of the fingers
the layer of the skin at the tips cannot expand and contract as easily as the rest of the finger
the layer is very thin here - so the first layer of skin eventually comes away from the rest - gets worn from usage - and thats why the skin peels like hell when your fishing
happens me the whole time

yeah happens to me too. but i have noticed that its 100 times worse when i am sea fishing,
i fish all year round and for the months of oct - march when i am mostly in freshwater my hands are fine. but come a few weeks of sea fishing and the skin goes bye bye.
i am sure the salt can only make worse what corbyeire described and handing things like ray and the baits too.
