Saltwater Fly Fishing rod for mullet

i need help i am thinking of takeing this up in the summer but i am looking for a kit that is cheep under £100 and that will do for Pollock fishing as well can any one help me :?:

mmm.... Believe it or not this one is a little on the difficult side.... You will need a slightly heavier rod for the Pollock than for the mullet, especially if you are fishing for Pollock in any onshore wind, even light. If I HAD to choose just one rod for both I would go with an 8 weight. Have a look at some of the online stores and ebay.... There will be plenty of options. Buy a cheap rod to start with and if you get into the sport you can look at a rod for Pollock and Mullet fishing.

If you are looking at an 8# then look at the shakespear adlantis salt. its quite a good rod for the money.

i'd second that, an 8 wt will struggle wit a pollock over 5lbs in kelpy conditions.have heard very good reports about the atlantis. what i would do though is invest in a quality fly line, if only one look at a an intermediate, as it is extremely difficult to catch pollack on a floater, need very specific conditions for success.if you do enjoy it you can always invest later.

check out http://www.tacklebargains.com for lines you can get an intermediate that casts fantastically, i was using it at the weekend for £10!
you could prob get a rod/reel on here to, depending what your after!

try the Lefty Kreh Series One 9ft #8 - 2 piece on this web site. buddy of mine has this and the 10wt and loves them.not the fastest actioned rod which makes them a wee bit more user friendly as well as they are at a good price.have thought about getting the 7wt for mullet and macks

i have a trout rod in the house 5-6# would it do for mullet do you think

yes but only in the flat calm and u wont have much distance.

might be suitable for mullet, have taken them on a 5wt when its calm.you should still get a 60ft cast with a 5/6 wt. could possibly be an idea to use this for the mullet and get a 9wt for pollack and possibly bass

I go with Lumpy on that one as well Merv. Use the 5/6 weight for the mullet and get a 9wt for Pollock / Bass
