Monkstown Monday

Can Anyone tell me the tide times in monkstown for monday. im thinking of going down for a few hours , starting at 2/3pm. Will the big tide be too much on monday. does anyone know where i can buy fresh crab around cork city monday or anywhere near the city

As far as i know H.W. is around 7 p.m. on Monday 19th, as for crab i'm afraid i can't help ,sorry :oops:

Low water monday at 12.57 and it's a 4.2m tide you would be lucky to get 2 hours fishing in that type of tide if you started fishing before low water. The times you'r looking at would be impossable to fish. You would never hold bottom and also the fishing is fairly poor there now with lots of small fish.
Best times to fish Monkstown (de wall) is early November to mid January and on the slack tides. Fishing to flood is best best but if there is little rain around the drop will fish just as good

Thanks for the info lads, i thought the tide might be too strong anyway. im going to college in ucc and my only way to get fishing is the bus. can anyone tell me any decent fishing marks that a bus from the city would go to, not too much of a trip though.

You can get to many good fishing marks in Cork Harbour by bus / train.

The Crosshaven Bus, not every one but a few a day go right up to Camden fort gates, Camden Pier is a well known shore mark,

The Monkstown / Ringaskiddy / Haulbowline bus. ( NOT via Carrs Hill).
To fish the wall in Monkstown if your fishing "The Burnt house" get off at the ferry slip in Glenbrook or if your fishing "Tobins Quay" or the pier get off in Monkstown by the pier. If you want to fish the "drain" get off at Buncoille (Bun kill ahh) The fishing in Monkstown is nearing its end for this season and will not improve until October again.

The Ringaskiddy / Haulbowline bus which is the one that services Monkstown also services Haulbowline a few times during the day, that will drop you very close to "Paddy Block Point" an excellent Bass mark. Its not that far to walk from Ringaskiddy anyway, get off at the last stop.
(The service via Carrs Hill is fine for Paddy block Point but not Monkstown)

The Cobh train will drop you right on the mark at the "deep water quay". Get off at the last stop.

The other guys on here should be able to add some more to this list.

You never know may-be someone might give you a lift when they are going fishing themselves, hint hint nudge nudge :wink:

There lots of marks there i must try, i was wondering does camden pier have a railing as i dont hane my rod rest in cork. might head out wed/thurs. anybody have any good links to marks or aerial shots of cork harbour. whats tide pull of tide like off camden pier. if anybody has any more info on camden pier i would appreciate it.ie. species, distance, tides. ill have squid, lug, wraps, mussel, mack.

The gate into Camden are often closed or they might be closed after you've gone in. It's a 20ft. climg over them to get out.

The gate to Camden is now closed continually, there is a security guard to stop trespassers/anglers and they fixed the gate so it is no longer climable from either side. The only access to Camden at the moment is across the rocks and climb the walls which I wouldn't recommend.
Even the locals have given up on it.
