The Zziplex 2500M is possible the most successful match rod ever made, it was discontinued and replaced by the 3500 a few years back, IMHO the 3500 is not half the rod the old 2500 was.
Bite detection was superb, nice soft tip, easy enough to cast, I think they came in at about 13ft with an 8ft tip...I owned a couple, I even had one of the very rare equal section 2500M, that model was made especially for Gemini and was called "Gemini 2500"
I may have this wrong but the 2500M either sold 18000 over 25 years...or...sold 25000 of 18 years..one or the other.
I think 99% of match anglers in the UK owned one at one time or another.

If its in good nick it should stand up to anything on the market today...if you wanted to sell it you would probably get what you paid for it back then, they are fetching good money on ebay.
One think about Zziplex rods compared to some custom UK blanks, they dont soften up as fast. so it should feel as good as the last time you used it.

John,
Have faith brother...that Gemini 2500 will chuck 6oz as easy as 4oz and you will be able to yark in Tope, big Ray or any other species you can find around Ireland.
Don't think because that rod is slim that its not powerful for either casting or winding fish in. I had plenty double figure cod on the one I owned.
