cushendun beach 10/2/07

#1 Post by merv147 »

People: me and big Liam

Duration: 3 hours 4.30-7.30

Tide: on the drop

Weather: very bad turning in to a nightmare

Bait: rag, frozen black lug, squid

Rigs: 2 hook pats 1 hook pulley rig

Results: 1 coile 33cm

Catch and Release:: yes

Report: me and big Liam went to red bay area we were going to fish the ledges but the wind was blowing in your face we went and had a look at other places red bay beach was a no starter as it was kind of hitting you in the face there as well. Red bay pier was nuts the waves were coming up to the concrete and the waves were hitting rocks and the water was coming over the wall really bad the wall is 20-30ft high. We went to cushendall it was bad as well so we made up are minds and went to cushendun it was ok at the start so we got set up by the time I was ready to cast the wind had changed and was hitting us smack in the face I was in one of them moods I just went f**k it I am fishing and cast out. Nothing much happened I reeled in and my bait was UN torched so cast out a second time. Liam reeled in as well to find his 2 hook pat in a mess he was saying to me lets pack up we were only there for an hour and a half so I reeled in and to my surprise I had a nice collie on the end of it 33cm nice wee fish Liam was saying to me give me one of them rigs and I gave him one no probs I have 50 tied up for selling on e-bay anyway and the ones I was using were seconds. He cast out we arsed about for another hour I spouse the wind was relay in your face and the rain didn’t help so we packed up and started to head down the road stopping in carenlogh chip shop for a bite to eat then went round to glenarm car park sitting to eat it facing the sea then we went on round to ballygally to have a look at the beach at low tide and went home all in all a bad nights fishing but sure it got me out of the house for a couple of hours. :)
