Ideas for a fund raiser for the RNLI

#1 Post by Ronald »

Right whos up for trying to get something organised ?
I suggested a paired roving comp around the portrush area .
Match rule supplied by local tackle shops(only an idea at the moment) and numbered for each pair.
Photos of each species/fish to be taken on the ruler (nearly everone has at least a camera phone )
only three fish of each species to count .

fund raising

What about a open comp try and get some tackle shops to give us some gear charge 15 euro entry fee all money to charity and say if we can get a decent rod for first a reel for second and a voucher for third prize. also we could try to get some bits and pieces for biggest round/flat
hope this helps

for the ulster/northern lads how about a paired roving match as ronald mentioned.
but have results on an individual basis, just fish in pairs for safety and fish witnesses?

only i would be inclined to give a certain amount of points per species and then only count the 1 fish of each species (your best one of each species) say 1 point per cm after that or something.
juniors could be catered for easily and safely (portrush harbour)
seniors could use portrush harbour back wall, ramore head, lansdowne, blue pool.

it could also be ran over 2 days if you wished (have a social evening together in the port on the saturday night for example) but you wouldnt strictly have to enter both days??

as i know from running an open charity comp for the rnli before ,sponsorship is hard enough work to get, but we can be sure of getting plenty of it for such a venture. last time i ran it for our club we managed to raise £600 for the portrush rnli.

as for time of year i would be inclined to target the summer months for the hope of better weather and calmer seas.

also to boost the possible attendance as long as it is organised at least 2 months in advance we can put in for penn sea league points perhaps?
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

I am happy with whatever is picked as not to up with comps yet.

It will take some doing so summer will be better.

Why not pick a group to organise and pick dates and rules and so on.

I vote ron and bigphil as both have done such before.

I do hope it does come off.

Only idea i can offer at the moment is to ask forum to put a link just for this so people can keep up to date and offer help if needed.

Goodluck and any help i can offer just ask.
