Various west Cork rock marks 3 & 4th Feb

People:Me

Duration:2 3hr sessions

Tide:Flooding

Weather:Calm & quite sunny

Bait:Lures

Rigs:J11, Abu Rocket, Abu Tormentor, Flying C

Results:1 Bass

Catch and Release: Yes

Report:Had a frustrating weekend of it. Seen plenty of fish but they didn't seem to taking properly, I don't know if the south east wind put them of or what. Tried a number of new marks and was pleased though to see that bass were on them.

Took one fish of about 2lb on the Saturday and then lost two on the Sunday. The same day I had the excitement of seeing two fish follow in my Flying C before one made a turn at it, one for a second then of again, when I retrieved the bait there was a big scale stuck on one of the prongs :lol: Nerves were shattered at this stage :lol:

I had a number of plucks both days that never developed into proper takes, it was if the fish were already full and weren't feeding properly. The ground swell that was up was pain in the ass, put me of the rocky fingers alot sooner than I would have preferred.

Sounds frustrating but at least you had the satisfaction of landing one. Well done.

nice fishing pete.not sure if you have tried this mark but the rocks at the eastern end of that beach your self and pete are fishing near where the stream comes out has thrown up a few to me over low water in the past
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Thanks for that Lumpy, no haven't tried those yet. Drove by the beach on Sunday and there was a really nice surf running it, was tempted to throw a couple of razors at it but got lazy and just stuck to plugging further on around.
Sea Species(25) bass, codling, whiting, turbot, seatrout, stingray, pollock, coalfish, longspine scorpion, ballan wrasse, dogfish, ling, pouting, poor cod, dab, mackerel, smelt, sandeel, launce, bull huss, painted ray, thick lip mullet, golden grey mullet, rock goby.
Fresh Water (2) brown trout, sea trout
