Report:fished ramore head after congers under the cliff for a couple of hours with not much happening we decided to move off but to are disbelief we were cut off by the tide there was a huge swell from the Atlantic ive fished ramore dozens of times and never got cut off nightmare. ended up getting winched up the cliff by the coast guard cheers guys for lifting all our gear aswell you never know when you need the coast gaurd and there always there to help nightmare

goes to show you what these guys do sometimes as volunteers, why dont you guys try raise some money doing a sponsorship thing to show your thanks.
I also have needed there help before and have always keep them in mind when i put my hand in my pocket.

Ramore head is renoned for cutting people off! Half way along it there is a slight gully were the concrete has been pored, I think it covers a pipe. Cracking place to fish but you always need to be mindful of the incoming tide.
A club I know was fishing there last year, There was 3 of them caught out on the head. They just had to sit it out until the tide was low enough to cross it again! Too close for comfort if you ask me.

i fish down the back of ramore all the time and thats the first time i've ever seen it like that... it was all flat calm when we got there but as we started to walk back towards the point i seen a big wave must have been about 20ft coming in and then another and another....just show how unpredictable ramore head is but we went fishin after that to east strand but didn't stay long cause we where a wee bit tried and it was really cold too....just wanta give a big shout out to the lads and ladys of the RNLI and the COAST GUARD thanxs for the help.....and a word to anyone who fish's or plans to fish it NEVER VERY TURN YOUR BACK ON THE SEA...thanx again to the RNLI and COAST GUARD and wee sam sterling for raising the alarm

Well, there was a point raised there.... The RNLI are there to look out for all of us... Maybe a S.A.I meet dedicated to raising some funds? £5 a Head in, A Prize for Maximum Length, All Proceeds to the Coastguard... Only a Thought.... Possibly one for a North South?
Glad you guys got back safe, Hats off to the coastguard.. I make a point of supporting them when i get the chance and pop in to the RNLI shop in Donaghadee and pick up a few bits n bobs. They sell all sorts of stull including cups, pens, stickers and stationery etc. Always worth a look.

That is a great idea
Pick a venue and a time of year when there is likely to be a REALLY big turnout, all proceeds to a very good cause.
Glad to hear you all got off ok, was getting worried after two hours and still no sign of the lifeboat leaving the area off the headland ( was fishing Portrush Harbour wall )
Hope that is a reminder to all of us that the sea is not to be taken lightly.
This could so easily have ended very differently had it not been for the actions of the coastguard and the R.N.L.I.

Or - how about EVENTS
Lets face it, it is unrealistic to expect people to travel the length of the country to a single location so how about regional events? That way there is a better chance of getting it better supported and at the end of the day, it's the R.N.L.I. that will benefit most if we get a good turnout.
