Braid for casting

#1 Post by Donagh »

Does anyone have a preference for what make of braid to use when beach casting. I was thinking of using 50lb fireline.

Well in fairness, when I use braid, I use 10lb for every 1oz of lead.
Obviously, depends on the spot and what your used to.

I'm not going to use a shock leader as I don't want to tie braid to mono so I was going with 50lbs. I think I'd get away with 30lbs as I'll be using an old floppy rod for this setup that would be cast with an over head tump. I'd probaly get away with using a 4oz lead as I presume this would hold even in strong tides with small diameter of the 30lbs.
