Benone or Castlerock?

#1 Post by Drew »

Right lads, think we're heading up that direction tomorrow night, at this time of year what do you reckon is the best mark? The Beach or the Bar Mouth? We've got Rag.. Probably able to get Mack too.

at night probably safer sticking to the beach, any of the beaches up there are worth a shot if you are targeting bass, but numbers will be a lot lower this time of year.
should be some decent flats still around
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

castlrock or benone

i'd reckon benone by a mile as castlerock is quite fickle and the pier is predominantly a spinning mark much later in the year.
I'd echo what Big phil say about the pier, as if your not familiar with either side and the terrain it could be trouble as potential rough seas spring up with the tide and locks being opened, combined with slippery weedy tarmac, bearing in mind reports after some lads got cut off at Rathmore with the swell. Not a very good place to be when there's a chop and the winds howling!!

believe that i read reports that has been a few bass, flats and a haddock caught at some competion recently there so happy hunting, but away from the entrance and towards the lough mouth.
