I'm fishing the mayfly on lough derg from the 5th to the 19th,
wonder will the missus give me an extra 3 days off?

Your starting early for the Derg Mayfly. I though the hatches were normally around the middle of May. You could be leaving when it's only getting going, especially the spent, which is when you'll get the best of the fishing on Derg.

Last year the first mayfly and fish appeared on the 5th, while I had been hard at it since the 1st with sign of fish or fly.
Derg is always earlier than the other western loughs
Its getting harder and harder to get all the time off I need for a proper fishing lifestyle!!!!!

PS, its pike tomorrow on Derg during this mini break in the weather .I am normally spectacularly unsuccesfull at this, but it beats pin whiting fishing

Where are you fishing out of Pete?

Tried to get out last year in February with Mark gannon, but weather forced us to stay inshore.Gutted!

I dropped the form up to IFSA with cheque for 130 and john + pete's names.
They are on waiting list- they are trying to sort out more boats.
