Redbarn/Ballycrenane, Co. Cork, 24/1/07

#1 Post by Pat »

People:Me

Duration:7.30 - 11.30

Tide:21:18

Weather:Clear skies, stiff Northerly breeze, freezing f...ing cold

Bait:Lug, Razor, Velvet Crab

Rigs:One up/one down & 1 hook clipped

Results: Tiny codling

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:First days off since Christmas and hadn't fished since 21st Dec. Was bursting to give the beaches at Garryvoe a go after all the posts of good fishing. However, on a tip off opted for Redbarn. The beach was exposed to the Northerly breeze and it was damn cold. After an hour my first bite yielded the smallest codling I think I ever caught. At that stage I couldn't feel my toes with the cold. Threw the towel in shortly after and headed for Ballycrenane which was much more sheltered. Fished the first two hours of the ebb but had no luck. Met a few other lads there aswell and they blanked also.
