Gretstones South beach

#1 Post by KenM »

People:

Duration: About 29 minutes!

Tide:On the up

Weather: Cold but nice night

Bait: Lug and squid

Rigs: teo hook pats

Results: One brand new abu garcia enticer snapped in two places!!!

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:

Got my new abu enticer 12ft beachcaster delivered yesterday morning from Navan. Eager to try it out so picked up some bait and hit greystones last night with pablo. Rod looked great out of the packet (although it was dark). Set up a rig with a 3 oz gripper weight, baited up and through my first cast. The rod base(behind reel seat) crunched and splintered to bits, and the tip of the rod snapped straight off!

To top it all I dropped my phine in a puddle heading back to the jeep! :(

The phrase "not fit for purpose" springs to mind. Have you been on to the retailer yet?

More like the phrase 'what the *&?%!!!!!?' - sure it wasn't damaged in transit? I could see it failing in one place, but not two...

Thats unfortunate.... I actually have one of those, I bought it about 3-4 years ago when I was just messing about from rocks for mackerel and pollack and the like. I would say you must have got a monday morning one or possibly it was damaged in transit. Still have mine and its been to hell and back.

Had a brief look at the rod when it arrived, after that only seen it in the dark about 4 hours later. Was delivered in a large carboard tube at it certainly didn't have any sighns of it being crushed or damaged. It only came from Navan!!!!

Rang the shop this morning and the phone kept ringing out with no answering service.

So decided to make the 45 min trip down. Got there and thers was a sign on the door saying that from jan '07 to feb 8th '07 we are not open on wednesdays!!!!!!!!!

I mean why don't they have that information on their website or answering machine??????? And what business closes on a wednesday???? I've heard of small business's closing half day friday or on a monday, but middle of the week???? :evil: :evil: :evil:
