Guy gave me a loan of this reel while he repaired another reel for me. :) Problem is that i've never used mutipliers before (only have rods ringed for F/S)....Just wondering if i can use my own rods with this reel :? ....it's got a level wind and the noisest retrive i've ever heard.Would i be better off waiting till i get my nice easy to use F/s reel back :? ..i really don't know where to start with this type of reel but will probably give it a try next time out .

You will be able to use a FS rod for a multi reel - no probs.

Can you tell me more about the reel? Model type?

If it is a SL30SH or a SL20SH, they are good shore reels but be careful when casting because there is no magnetic controls in them to slow the reel down.

If it is noisy on the retrieve, the ratchet might be turned on - round button on the side plate (opposite side to handle) - try flicking this and the noise should stop.

Tell me more about the model and I can hopefully help you.

nice one GG :) all i can make out on the side of the reel(it appears to have been in a battle or two :shock: ) is sealine SU75H or SL175H(sounds like a U-Boat :lol: ) seems a bit on the big side could it be for boat fishing (really showing my lack of knowledge :oops:) .Used it on an old rod out in a field today got a decent cast considering i've not used one before :) no birds nests or overruns :shock:

heyif it is an SL 175 h then it is most definitley a boat reel

Thanks dbrock,like i said i can barely read the print on it (only a guess it was a boat reel due to it's size)and i know nothing about multipliers :oops: , but it will come in handy for conger or other heavy duty stuff.Plus i can get used to working a mulitplier without worrying to much about stuffing it up :D . Should be fun :shock: :twisted: :lol:
