mussels
ive come into a pile of frozen mussels - ive only ever caught tiddler wrasse with them - in the summer
any advice on tactics to hook something on them this time of year?

they were boiled quickly to open, shelled and frozen for cooking again - not fresh frozen :?

I use them in donegal and have had various fish on them, coalies, whiting, rockling, dogs, flounder.
Ive used it with lug for any of the flats and with squid for the rest.
Its a great bait, because the smell is serious!!
My fishing has been limited lately and have no doubt that they will catch other fish aswell, excellent for cod.

a mussel mackeral bait is one of the best baits on the east coast during the winter for coalies, use it by itself for cod or mixed with lug on big hooks. ive even have gurnards on the mussel. but the main species that will take it are cod and coalies.
