calm those congers!!!
heres a tip i picked up from a guy while fishing tellin pier back in july landed 3 eels that day when i landed the first he was agood 18lbs not that easily handeled u mite say a man came over and showed me how to put it to sleep first place a cloth over its eyes then with one hand firmley stroke down the lateral lines that run down the congers sides after about 3 to 4 minutes the big eel just lay there gave me time to remove the hook wen i carried him back down to the water soon as his head touched it woke up again and soaked me!! been doing it ever since oh and remember to crush the barbs makes life alot easier

seen some guy do it on t.v. he held its head with one hand while he stroked it, used a lot of pressure(boat fishin) must be something to do with the sensors in the lateral line.

ive seen it work with fresh water eels, unsure why tho
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish
