Trying to get out this weekend for a few hours (if i can get away, wife willing  ) but i've heard the fishing has dropped off in Monkstown and Cobh(apparently due to the recent bad weather  ),if anyone has any info it would help save a wasted few hours :)

Fished Cobh last night with phanover for a couple of hours. More of an excuse to get out of the house than anything else. Tide was dropping, which may not have helped but we had the sum total of one small edible crab. Aside from one or two small twitches, not a touch.

Not sure about the Wall fished there 10 days ago with club and only coalies and a conger caught. Ihavent heard anything positive. Fountainstown was apparently fishing well during the bad weather, fished it a couple of times this past week or so and had plenty of coalies, Phanover had a couple of small codling too. The bass appear to have buggered off however.

Havent been able to hit the beaches I would have liked to this past couple of weeks as they have been choked with weed. If you have no objection to LSDs and small whiting, give Currabinny pier a try if all else fails with sandeel. Fish the seaward side and just lob out into the channel. I am informed it fishes better on the Ebb.

Cheers for that Liamo, what were you using as a matter of interest? The eels can be a nice surprise there alright!

Mark... I'd say you've done worse... :D

After reading Liams post I hotfooted it down to De Wall to catch LW. Used black lug and squid and between the 3 of us that were there caught the grand total of FA. Possibly trawled at HW this morning....who knows! No fish to be had anyway.

Harbour

#9 Post by JimC »

Was out last Sunday. Two trawlers were hammering the bank, channel and jetty. Wasn't up monkstown way but I've no doubt they've been visiting there too as they haven't been able to get outside. A total shame and very disheartening.
