Arklow???

#1 Post by KenM »

Hey

Last week I was looking for info on marks around Dublin that will produce some fish as my last few sessions have been crap to say the least.

As I said going to hit greystones this weekend, but now Im going to hit Arklow as reports from greystones don't look that promising.

So where do I go exactly in Arklow? North beach? South beach? and more importantly once I get into Arklow where do I go? Never been in Arklow before.

Any info welcome

Thanks

Ken

I usually fish the south beach, it is always good for a few fish.
Dogs, Dabs, Whiting, maybe a Codling and Flounder too. In summer it can be very good also.

As you come into Arklow, go over the bridge and take the left at the end of the bridge. (drive along the quay)
Then drive to the end of the Quay road and turn right (the only turn you can take) then drive maybe 500 yards and turn next left and then swing right.
You should now see the railings on top of the car park entrance.
(Qualceram is right beside the car park)
You can park at the entrance and fish there or there is a larger car park just up on the right (follow the road).
Watch out for the boy racers though!!

Don't expect too much from Arklow during the day, it fishes better at night.

Thanks for the info lads.

So you think it doesn't fish well during the day?

Any tips for marks that do fish during the day this time of year?

Thanks

Sorry ken for the last year or so I am like a vampire I only go out at night, I came back to sea fishing a few years ago and found I was getting very little for a lot of effort during the day and was doing much better after dark so now I keep to the darker hours when possible.

Hey Pat,

No worries, I'm only at this a while and have found the opposite. Fishing at night has done nothing but fustrait me! Barely any fish and any I did manage to catch would easily fit into a gold fish bowl. That combined with the rushing out after work and the fact that even with glasses I'm still a blind fecker!

As for you, If I had your luck at night time then I'd be doing the exact same as ya!

Don't mind me Im just a little narky as my fishing lately is not very productive to say the least. Thats fine with me in the summer but when its 2 degrees outside and wet thats a different story.

Thanks for your info anyway buddy
