Greystones south beach

#1 Post by Richie07 »

People:Myself and a flock of oyster catchers.

Duration:9 am - 13.30

Tide:HT around 12.30 ish

Weather:beautiful,sunny,little wind

Bait:frozen black lug,mussel,sandeel,mackerel

Rigs:all types

Results[/b]:nothing

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:Bad day,just back.Highlight of the day was a flock of oyster catchers that kept doing the rounds,anyway,lost 10 rigs in first 10 casts,was surprised to see all the beach is gone past the stream,there are boulders there now,some sort of breakwater,I blame this for the bad fishing lately,had to move back up the beach as kept getting snagged and lost alot of gear.Had a few bites but they were only pin whiting,decided to pack it in after I was all set to cast a dog pished on me bait ,I then threw the line out ,got a crack off and a birds nest,that was the final straw,one of those days I suppose.

Quite a bit,but it's not too bad at the middle of the driving range,think I'll try the North beach the next time or even Kilcoole.

Hi Richie, sounds like you were in the same spot as I was last Tuesday, see report. between us we will keep some one in Business. I'm hoping to try Killiney or somewhere Thursday so hoping for some favourable reports.

I headed down to the south beach on Friday night.. well actually down to ballygannon.. just past the first river they have put boulders all the way down. I walked down to where the grey shed used to be and it was a mess, loads of construction so it’s pretty much a pain to fish.. I walked a little bit more and found a spot right where the ledges used to be so decided to fish there. Loads of rocks to the left of me but just stayed clear and was grand. Only lost 2 gears and fished from 5:00pm to 11:00pm with 2 rods, there was a good bit of weed but nothing that would put ya off. Ohh dog’s few codling, coalies, couple of whiting that was about it but was kept going.. Got nice and cold out too.

John
