South beach Greystones 12 Dec 06

#1 Post by Pat Spillane »

People:Me

Duration:1830 - 2300

Tide:HW around 1600

Weather:Windy

Bait:Mackerel, sandeel, squid, mussel, lug

Rigs:Everything I had tied (lost them all)

Results:Dogs, small codling and whiting and a dab

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: I decided to fish here for a change. I fished just below the stream. I started losing gear right from the start, two casts -two sets of gear. I was going to move but the next cast got a dog and a small codling so I persevered. By the end of the evening I had lost about 10 rigs with no really decent fish to show. It was OK once the tide dropped a bit but when it started to rise again I had masses of weed to contend with. This meant that I kept getting stuck in a ridge about 30-40 feet out. Time to head for home. Still 4 species, not too bad
