Sandeel spinning.

If you were fishing (spinning) with a sandeel for pollack as Henry Gilbey does a lot, how much and how would you attach the lead?

It really depends on the distance you need to get. Realistically, (I've always found anyway) that this technique is more for short range stuff due primarily to the softness of the bait and the tenuous hook hold you have on it.
Personally I always bang a small barrel lead (less than an ounce) about 2 feet above the hook. This gives you plenty of weight to get out as far as you'll realistically need and leaves the lead well clear of the sandeel to avoid any disturbance.
When off the rocks around courtmac, we've always found this to be a really effective method for pollack as the day turns to dusk but you HAVE to put a couple of bright yellow beads above the sandeel. Don't know why but its the difference between a blank and a bucketload!

Thats what i was thinking using a smaller lead. The beads sound like an interesting trick. Thanks.

I've seen people use 5 and 6 oz leads. If you tie the eel on it helps and if you really want to go mad why not use a clip up the line.

i do same as above i add a small lead up line to help get it out a bit.

I also use these and as you can see wiggle great i think it looks like a swimming sand ell rather than one being draged.
