whats peoples opinion on the optimal length of the hook length on a pully rig. generally for rays i fish a 24-28inch hook length although if specifically targeting huss or conger i tend to reduce the lenght to about 18 inchs. dont really know if it effects its fishability positively or negatively, more then likely just a personal querk..

Are the lengths posted just for the snood, if so what length for the main body?

my pulley lengths are usually 3ft to 5ft hook to lead with the snood being 3/4's the length of the rig body

When using heavier snoods 60lb or 80lb I measure to half the length of my body as the easy measurement which is around 3 foot. I always use a gemini rig clip and have the snood just under the body length. For distance I use a breakaway lead to be sure big baits stay clipped down. The snood can be shortened for rough ground when its taken out of the wallet. When using lighter snood of 30lbs and I use a mushroom clip down so the snood isn't under the direct tention of the lead. Here I use shorter snoods of 2 feet or less as these rigs are aimed at picking up dogs and smaller rays.

the lengths i posted were for the hook length, i generally have the body about 6-8 inchs longer. i found with the linger pulleys the were difficult to cast in confinde spaces on rock marks, also the had a tendency to tangle around the body

most of my pulleys are exactly what donagh said there. around three 3ft main body line and all clipped with a gemini clip.

I like to keep them around 2 ft, I dont like them any longer as it effects the balance. I also think that using a snood which is much shorter than the trace length will make the rig less streamlined.

Rough ground, 2-3 feet, I have used them up to 5 feet on beaches when looking for bass and cod though.
