Stick to the spring/summer/autumn months. During the winter you're looking at the odd dab or flounder with loads of pin whiting and small colaies mostly...

you might get an odd reasonable run of whiting but I wouldn't come from galway for it. better off trying the surf beaches in the area.

if you are determined to go I would suggest night time and a calm sea. if the wind is from the north absolutely forget it. I mean go home. Get back in the car. in fact don't even get out of the car.....

what would you be looking for?

Is the wind direction really that important?

I was told this by a local who had fished there alot and it has held up most times as far as I can remember. Don't know the reason why.

Actually the best time to fishing there is when you see the serious fishermen there that look that they might be local (limerick/kerry area) they usually have vans, good gear, proper stands etc they have obviously heard thet something good was caught and are giving it a go.

if only there was a fenit pier web cam
