Fair play to you I was supposed to go last night but the met office reports turned me off. I could'nt figure out where I would get shelter on the E coast.

the weather was mad we drove down to arklow pier first and with the wind and the big tide the waves were coming over the wall it was to dangerous to fish there so we drove to wicklow harbour and had a look at the small pier and it still looked a bit ropey then i remembered there were 2 big steel containers on the train tracks at the 5 mile point that might give us some shelter we drove down and had look the beach was coverd in water with a monster surf breaking about 150 yards out so we gave it a go for a couple of hours
i forgot to mention we got lost in the wicklow mountains for 4 hrs trying to avoid the traffic on the m50 lol :)

good man - anyone that can laugh at the traffic and the consequences of it - is in a good frame of mind

good thinking on those containers

i've found that this beach is normally the worst of the wicklow beaches, going on past competition results that is. although the last open was won there which is strange! killoughter would be a much better bet, if you have a hovercraft or a helicopter to avoid the lane. i could swear i saw some fish in them puddles last time!
