Greys PZ Match

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Greys PZ Match

#1 Post by EricH »

Hey!
I am looking for a rod that sits in between my TT Sport and TT Lite, was looking at the Greys PZ Match, seems way cheaper than Century TT Match, which i would prefer.

Can anyone recommend the Greys PZ Match or tell me about it? It seems good value for money, £189-185 i think in SA this month.

Thanks,
Jonny

Or £125 from HD agencies if you have any way of getting it from north Down.

P.S. only one left

to me it seems like a good enough rod for what it is designed, some just get put off by the colour of the rod! - kinda goldy brown would we call it?
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

Delivery is the main problem for them, most of their stuff is selling on ebay but are not selling these rods there due to the length.

Drop them a line and see what they can do.

Hi,

I did a small review on this rod on this site a few years ago and if you look back using the search facility you will find it. I still have mine but its an orginal not the current version. I love the rod and would not swap it, but according to a TSF review the later version was not supposed to be as good as the orginal. However, I have never met anyone who used the latest version but that does not say its not a good rod. I can't fault the earlier version and would consider greys again in the future.

I'm glad you got sorted out OK.I got an Apollo from them at the start of the week and just picked it up myself.A lovely couple to deal with and are more than helpful with any query's you might have. They seem to be just winding up the business to have a little more time to themselves. The majority of the stuff they have left is fly gear and clothing but it might not do any harm to ask them to send you a list of whats left.I'm going over tonight to pick up a couple of pairs of thermal wellies for £12 each

As for the PZ match I have had no experience of them but going by any other Grey's rod I've used you cant go far wrong

Have to agree, the guy on the phone seemed spot on, didnt even want to take my number, said he'd hold the rod for me til the bank draft arrived (sent friday).

Was on their website, seems that all the gear thats left is fly fishing stuff.

Thanks Johnny!!

PZ Match arrived today, first impression : WOW! I really like the copper/brown/wine colour of the blank . . .feels nice and tippy too.

Looks well made, finish and fittings are flawless, and a fuji reel seat included also . .well done Grey's.

Blank is nice and slim too.

Hopefully I can get out tonight for an hour and nab a few fish to christen 'er . . .

So far, I think I have a real bargain, Johnny, if there was a virtual bar, i'd buy you a virtual pint!

Will let you know how she handles if I can get out tonight!
