Mitchell Armada

Seen one these, anybody have one or have any opinions on them

Have one of the older Mitchell Armada 7000.
Been using it almost 3 years now for a variety of things and so far no problems. Just give it a quick wash when finished and it gets re greased every so often.

Use for mainly spinning locally but have used it of the beach and for light inshore boat work when down in Oz.

Haven't seen the newer saltwater model yet.

i have seen it it looks pretty good and feels solid enough

my reel is about 30 years old i found it in the shed i left it in a fishing shop to see what wrong they said its worth £ 70 to £80 and to keep and still using today will sort of :D

Have an Armada Lying about somewhere, Got it new, within 2 Months the Spool wouldn't connect to the Spindle Properly (Don't ask me), Its still lying about here somewhere... :oops:

they seem ok to me although i did hear of one giving problems with the spindle/spool - stopped going up and down on the retrieve, the reel was replaced and hasnt giving bother since

Thease reels although old in design are solid and preferd by surf anglers in the west indies for shark and ray from the beach. My buddy Gerald purchaced two on his last viset to Ireland, huge reels which he fills with 80lb braid.(for west indian pout)
