abu smock

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

abu smock

#1 Post by dbrock »

recently purchased one under the influence from a bad sales man in a shop i wont mention that it was 100 percent water proof
well it aint
i was soaked to the t shirt last sunday week in a comp
when i emailed the managing director of abu this is what i got back

Hi there,

The smocks are showerproof, breathable but not 100% waterproof: If you are
not satisfied then you need to return it to the retailer from where you
purchased it.

Best regards,

Graham Freestone

so just incase any of you guys thinking of getting one

I have one and it has done the job - it is fine.

I detected a small bit of wetness but that was in a real heavy shower with the wind blowing the rain sideways.

Try some spray on water-proofing.

What price did you pay for the smock?

Most people I know say the Titan smocks leak worse than the Abu one...the seam around the neck has no tape on at all....that area is the first place to leak on most hooded garments.

i ave an abu smock aswel cant complain about it but after a couple of hours standing in torrential rain it will leak a bit at the upper back, shower proof would be an accurate description.
