HELP ME PICK FROM THESE RODS...ALL ADVICE WELCOME

#1 Post by carry on nursing »

I have decided to stick to fixed spool for a bit longer tried boyfriends multiplier and iam a bit of that standerd. So going to learn to fish and the basics, then i will get into casting.

I am looking your thoughts on these rods.

Greys grx-s 13ft fixed
Greys orion 13 ft fixed
K2 blue metal extreme 14ft

And the new shakespeare salt 13ft fixed.

All these rods even the k2 as its the cheapest of the k2 family come in below £100 sterling. If you can help please leave your thoughts on these rods. My boyfriend has made his suggestion and he has a greys rod and likes them but i know nothing on the others so please post your own.

can't rate the K2 highly enough for price and performance. great for mackeral bashin, flattie fishin, whiting, coalies and the like. casting-wise its great with a 10lb line and tapered shock.
it's not good for rough ground or heavy seas- it's a good clean ground rod in average conditions. light and enjoyable to use.

the orion has a faster tip action and is presumably not as user friendly -not good for leaning basics?

i know nothing of other rods mentioned....

hope this helps a little.

Recently got a Daiwa longbeam 13ft (fs) from a friend (thanks Sooty)

Nice rod with medium action - casts 4 - 8 oz no problem.

Doesnt weigh too much either - reckon u could hold this one all day long

Believe it runs for about €80

Just a thought...

I'd rate the Longbeam highly too.
