Does anyone have any experience of targeting flounder especially in estuaries? Looking for a few tips with regard to:
Tide?
Bait?
Beads/No Beads, colour, spoons?
Rigs?

Where abouts are you?
Where I fish for estuary Flounder peeler crab is the best bait by far. Mainly because the crabs will eat the ragworm off the hooks in minutes or quicker, they dont seem to eat their own kind as quick, but they will eat the crab.
I use a 3 hook flapper,(2 up 1 down) maybe 6ft long, with snoods around 14 inches, size 2 wide gape hooks, fine wires usually, kamasan do a really good one, also, have just ordered some Mustad crab claw hooks to see what they are like.
I dont usually use beads or that, others swear by them.
One trick to do, is to move your bait every few minutes if you are not getting bites, it's supposed to kick up a little mud when the weight is moved and attract inquisitive flounder.
I have found that Flounder can hold bait in their mouth and then drop off on their way in, even though you could swear they were hooked.
Hope this helps . . . .

some people swear by beads and others don't well i am one of the guys swear by them when i am targeting flat fish i use them and to be honest i do use them on most fishing rigs. i buy a wish bone of e-bay that's the rig i buy for most of my flatfish work they cost between £3-£4 for 2 and then £1.50 p+p and the rigs are good quality i use them ones on a pulley rig have a look on e-bay for your self mate

the trick with flat fish is not to be too keen to strike they will happily sit and eat your bait as they are camouflaged on the sea bed when he starts to move of then with a pulley rig he will 9 times out of 10 he will bed the hook in his mouth hope this helps you and have fun fishing for flounder
tight lines Merv
