Local knowledge Galway / Limerick coastline?

#1 Post by Kev Lewis »

Hi Troops,

No local knowledge, only ever fished two comps on Benone before. Coming over for a short break, 18 - 21 Nov, but should be able to get out shore fishing. So, if we end up in either of the above:
1. Need a bait shop in both towns - local worm, calamari, mackerel, crab?
2. Need selection of easy access daylight marks, where the wife can drop me, she spends the day shopping, and finds me again early evening.
Only bringing a continental long tele rod, cast 4oz + bait maybe 125 yards, but will take bass to 12lb OK.
Can respond in kind if you end up in S. England (but why?), might even join you as guide. All advice gratefully received. Kev.

check the search option for salthill or silverstrand in galway city - ample access for the wife to drop you off and go shopping in the city and collect you later

Look at the angling maps on the central fisheries board web site:

http://www.cfb.ie

The shannon regional fisheries board have alot of clare marks.

Thanks to Corbyeire and Donagh, & personal mailers

Salthill and Silverstrand are no excuse for her getting lost, and I do like the fisheries board site. Gives me lots of choice if plans change, and tackle shops are listed.

Thanks for all help, fished salthills this Monday 20 Nov. Bit brisk, had to rewind every three minutes due to weed, so no fish taken. Beats shopping though.
