Mackerel, in the LIFFEY, in November

Title says it all. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.

I was crossing the Liffey at the IFSC House Bridge today at lunchtime and the were mackerel(!!!!) breaking the surface below. I watched them for a minute or so before they headed down river towards the port.

I'm VERY confident they were mackerel. I thought initially they were small mullet but they weren't.

This isn't common at all is it?

mullet are common there, never seen a mack there though, are you sure? i saw a shoal of mullet there last week

Have seen mac there in summer alright so who knows

my da used to fly fish for them there during the summer months when he was young saide there used to be millions of them, said it was one of the best fights aswell on light fly gear.
