personally i like pulleys with 20lb flourocarbon and 3/0 hooks if i'm not power casting or else bolt rigs as seen in the gemini catalogue.sometimesi'l fish 2 hook pats or a 1 up one down if i'm expecting flats or other smaller species
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

I second that, however I dont usually bother using fluoro. When making a pulley, make it a big un, snood length of at least 2 feet works well I find. A bait stop is handy but dont worry about any bling whatsoever. Absolutely no need for it.

Single hook clipdowns also work well as do one up one downs. The humble Pulley however I feel reigns supreme when specifically targetting bass. Multihook rigs with smaller baits do offer more versatility however if its fish in general you're after, competition situations etc.

I use clear or black 20lb Amnesia/Supersnood BTW. Simple running legers work well also but are not the best for casting, compromise with the pulley.

But obviously specifically Targetting a species requires certain types of Rigs.... I don't expect to go targetting Bass with size 2 Blue Crab Hooks and 10lb Snoods like...

Yes, But you weren't specifically fishing for Conger with 1/0s, twas a fluke.
No Doubt any rig can pick up any species, I once had a Mackeral on a size 6/0 hook on a Tope trace, hooked cleanly.
But when specifically targetting a species, its best to go with what has been a Proven winner for that particular species.

if u arnt casting far the runninig ledger is(supposedly!) the best and a nice big hook(4/0) on 20lb clear line.

If it's Drew we are talking about then the running ledger will be fine - he never casts far or if he does the line isnt attached

Most Bass fishing is done very close to the shore so a ledger is really all you would need, however, 2 or 3 baits puts out a bigger scent trail.

Even a bad days fishing is better than working.
