Frozen Peeler Crab

#1 Post by SHANE R »

Hi
I was wondering does anyone know where I can buy some frozen peeler crab and have it delivered by post. I was reading an old copy of IA last night and I saw a feature about a guy in Kerry called Atlantic baits who sold vacumn packed frozen crabs by mail order. I was wondering does or has anyone delt with him. It was an old edition of IA so he might not even be trading anymore.

Thanks in advance
Shane

I think thats Kevin Brain isnt it?? He would be fairly well known about these parts for the quality of his baits. Give Cork Angling a ring, they should have his number 021 4321000

Probably not much help to people in Cork, but they're selling live peeler crabs in St. Georges Market in Belfast on Fridays.

you can buy a pack of peeler crabs on e-bay they sell at £7.99 for 24 + £1.60 p&p witch is cheap I got a pack of crabs from my fishing shop and it was £3.50 for 4 crabs so there is some saving there. That p&p is for the UK but I am sure if you ask he well deliver to you in Sligo even if it’s an extra 2-3 pound you still getting huge savings

Lads, a warning, do not buy this stuff. Its no nearer a peeler crab than I am. What you get is some processed unidentifiable sea life thats all minced into a paste and binded with something before being shaped into bait sized pieces. Lads, its complete crap, do not waste your cash on this sh1te. The stuff wont even stay on the hook to be cast, its grade a scrap....

My opinion.....that is all

Has anyone tried this new GULP bait???? they say it fishes better than live bait, because it has better colour and more scent. comes in craps and worms. wondering if anyone has tried it.

I would have to agree with petekd in relation to the stuff of the internet. Even the stuff you buy in tackle shops can be a bit of hit and miss dependent on where they get it from and so bleeding expensive  .

Best bet is get out onto your local rock marks during the better months and gather your own. Okay, they can take a bit of working at but then again you know what you have.

Thats the problem Merv, it doesnt, unless you can tell me different. As far as whipping it on the hook, this stuff is like cheap catfood mixed with flour into a stiff dough, then left to dry a bit. Theres no whipping it on. Its crap. Its like trying to bait up with a Jaffa cake.

I used 36 of these over two sessions and all i got was one little knock - think it was from a very small coalfish who didnt know any better

Go root around some rocks etc and get the real deal :!: :!:
