Was that trolling? or casting in a hot spot? While I've caught the odd bass from the shore, I've never got one from the boat..........

We were anchored at a favourite mark. I prefer to drift while casting as we can cover more ground, but this is only possible when wind and tide allow - otherwise you might end up on the shore. Rarely, if ever do we troll. Catching a fish trolling is just not the same.

Nice fishing. Were you in shallow water. I have tried several surface lures without any success.

Yes Stan we were in shallow water. So much so that I lost two of my plugs and a shad - a result that I have avoided nearly all year long. I've used a variety of surface plugs but have yet to land a fish on these - including the much heralded Storm Chug Bug. However, have had several bass follow my Midnight Alie Magnet Slider and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I have success on this
