conoflex foofighter?

had a go with one last weekend, extremely slim and light to hold, casts lovely but reember its only rated for 100grms so its not a three hook clipped doggie rod. used it on courtown loads of fish so saw loads of bites at different ranges and used it with 2,3 and 4oz leads perfect.

cheers for info. is the tip soft/could you use light lines on traces with it?

i like the source- just the lenght...can't find a decent long rod with a soft tip. grauvell dh is too expensive! love the K2 but something similar with soft tip with be nice!

Seen the advert for the Foofighter but not sure how it compares to the other lighter rods. One of the lads in our club was rep for Conoflex so will ask him if he knows and will post result.

If you like the Source but want a lighter tip have you looked at the Source Estuary Match? Similar rod but much tippier and can chuck 5oz for those with a big hit. Bit like a beafed up Flattie Fanatic which is how it came about. Lovely rods with a tip which seems to give way until the mid section power kicks in. Had codling to 3lb or so off a pier, treble shots of big whiting and hauled big spider crabs off Fenit Pier last year. Well worth looking at. Good reviews off Mel Russ at Sea Angler and Barney at Total Sea Fishing.

I'm sure it would be good match rod where treble doggies are about.

ahh Pete was lookin for a softer tip than the triplex.

is the source e.m. really capable of haulin dogs? i though it was more suited to lighter stuff???

it is a fine match rod, though i wouldnt be depending on it for hauling treble dogs... it works with treble flounders etc nicely , but i would prefer the source for hauling the dogs.

we had one as a prize at our open the other year, i will speak to the guy who won it to see how he got on with it....i know he did get it rebuilt for fixed spool though, so probably more used for the flounder work etc, but it puts 4oz and 3 baits a long way! lovely tip and thin butt, i would love one myself!

I don't know about handling the ground they might be on but I'm quite confident it would handle the job of hauling them in. As I say i've had codling to 3lb or so and the only problem was handlining up the pier as the tip folds. Definately got deceiving power in the mid section. I don't get to use mine enough on my coast but love it when conditions allow.

the source is not for dogs, its a match rod designed for using maddies and the likes when scratching. it can handle dogs but it wasnt designed for that type of work no matter what type of ground youe fishing over. :roll:
