yep, at the time catch/release was unheard of, there used to be a run of bout 5000 such fish, up to 10/12lb. last yr. less than 500 ran the river.
there is still large run of finnock (small c. trout) in setember i walked about 1.5 miles of river seen 2000 c trout 50 salmon.
theres 3 sea trout rivers near were i live the colligan, tay, and mahon all 3 have seen runs reduced to about 10% of what they were 10/15 yrs. ago
seen 6 c.t. over 10lb in 1 pool in the mahon last yr. the guy how was with me went fishin for them and had 1 of 12.5lb.(will post pic.)

I admire the honesty C. Allot of anglers would bu**sh1t saying they were all released. At least u have changed your ways....and about a thousand bass in waterford have let out a collective sigh of relief..!! :D

he could hardly have bul***t*ed this time seeing as the picture shows all the fish on the bank together bloodied and rigeur mortis is evident aswel.

no wonder sea-trout stocks are the way they are these days my local river once a great fishery got a miserable run of small(8oz) sea-trout this year all of which were returned b.t.w. only ever keep stockies these days.

Whats in the past is in the past, no point stirring it up. The fact is that many anglers now realise their ways were wrong and are now going in the right direction with catch n release.

Taking the picture for what it is lads, its a scene from the past...., we have all done things on occasion I'm sure that were ok in the past but would not pass muster now. If anything, its a good sign that posting a picture such as this can stir a feeling of indignation amongst viewers. It shows that scenes such as this are no longer acceptable. Their are some who may feel the pic is somewhat inflammatory, but by all accounts and from a lot of sources it seems the general consensus is that Cortaz is a changed man... :D And fair play too. I had a pop back a year or two ago in reference to a not dissimilar picture, having heard numerous sources singing the guys praises in relation to attitudes towards fish stocks etc, I took the opportunity to apologise for some of my comments to him via PM and it was graciously accepted.

Cortaz, your a braver man than I posting a picture such as that, especially on this site but it is a refreshingly honest approach, showing how things were a few years ago. You could tell us till we're sick listening but a picture paints a 1000 words after all. If anything, that picture reinforces the fact that tighter controls on fish stocks are required, look how far its declined in the past few years........
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D
