#1 Post by MC »

hello folks
new to site and its great. i spent many years sea fishing and after a time away (marriage, mortgage and kids) have started to return and was wondering if it is possible to catch cod/codling from the shore in the Donegal/Derry area? please help as i have never caught any.

Decent cod are few and far between at the minute mate

Benone and Castlerock aren't too far from you, they have both thrown up good Bass this year but you probably only stand a chance of getting one over the next three weeks before the cold weather kicks in....

Good Luck.

Erm :? Think it was a Cod he was after Jude

Not too sure about the Donegal area but cna't think of anywhere close to you. Cushendun gets a name as a winter Cod venue but yet to get what would be called a good fish off it. :(

Even a bad days fishing is better than working.

Alright hi. Would love to get one of these myself but I've never heard of a single cod been taken from these parts.

The closest would be just offshire from small boats at the mouth of the Swilly, around Fanad and Malin head.

Let me know if you hear any different!

DING!

Just remembered, one of my fellow crewmen on the Sea Sparkle claims to have caught cod from the wall just behind the pier in Greencastle. This would have been a few years ago right enough...

Can't believe I forgot that...
