bass this sunday??? north or east???

#1 Post by thompo »

hello

want to try and get out and have a go at catching a bass.

2 areas i have in mind are the northcoast, benone, castle rock etc or east coast carlingford lough sort of area.

never tried for bass (or much else of the beach i prefer rocks lol)
ill have rag, lug, mackrel, mussel and squid maybe some razor and frozen peelers aswell for bait. and ive got a few plugs and lures i can have a lash with aswell

just wondering what area would i have a better chance at? or disregarding the bass anything else to specifically target in these areas at this time of year?

Cheers for any info

Neil

Alright thompo?

I have tried Benone several times in the last few months for bass but no luck.

If you want to go up that way - the Bann Mouth at Castlerock has been throwing up decent Bass via lures - see Bass Boy's posts.

Carlingford can throw up Bass but you would need some local knowledge to know where to go.

Supposedly there was a 3lb Bass landed at Brown's Bay a few weeks back.

Personally I would give Carlingford a bash - but that is beacuse I am fed up with Benone.

One tip I would give you is - use big hooks - 3/0 or 4/0 pennel with big baits - mack, rag, squid cocktails.

Good luck!!!!

Jude
