You just pulled in a what??!!!
Reading Steve Crowe's account of going out for a few flatties only to get stuck into a ripper of a bass makes me ask, any chance of a bass while fishing for wrasse with peeler crab??
What I'd love to know is what have people caught while fishing for something entirely different.
My own only example was this summer past while spinning for Pollack I got a great take, once I got the fish un-snagged and ashore I was astonished to find it was a fine wrasse. Not surprising to some of you I'm sure, but to me it was rather amazing.
What's your best??

Early September while fishing two rods (one float, one spinning/jigging) for mackerel/pollack in Kells Bay, Kerry. Just after casting my spinner when my float went under (always seems to happen that way), dropped my spinning rod and struck on the other rod finally got a nice pollack about 2 1/2 lbs. Released it and jigged in my other rod on the way in I hooked something but there was no fight so I assumed weed until it was close enough to see. When it spat ink at me I realised I had just caught my first squid.

All fishermen are liars except you and me and to tell you the truth, I'm not so sure about you!

Was fishing Greystones a few years back, the sea was very rough with a very severe drift on and tons of weed with every cast too,had to actually play the weed in with the pull of the waves as there were loads of it attached, anyway was pulling in a load of weed when I noticed a bass of just under 8lb coming out of the surf underneath all the weed .Happy days.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!
