south for cod

me and a few of me mates have decided to head south this year for cod can anyone tell us of the best venues to fish for this species of fish. please all information will be regarded as useful and im not coddin ya.

as far as it takes really, had Waterford in mind but this place De Wall has my attention lately.

fish the rive suir (near ballinakill downs) in waterford. You'll get cod up to 3-4 lbs

Arthurstown on the wexford side of Waterford Estuary is a good spot at night on a flood from half way up, use lug and or crab in squid. A bit snaggy in places but it has the advantage of a lit and sheltered pier...

BTW, does anyone know what is the story is with the container port at Bellview - is it closed to anglers now?

Youghal harbour can be good, town side on the flood, Ferrypoint on the ebb. Crab is the best option and you might chance flats or a bass too.

Tramore can produce them on the beach beside the Saleens - Fitzgeralds I think it is called, flooding tide at night.

Wexford harbour gets a run of them, smaller than other places, outside talbot hotel, short 30 metre lob casts with crab wrapped in squid will do. Ask JD as he specialises in this venue! :wink:
